Me & You in May

My Husband is my best friend. We were friends at School and began dating back in 2006 when we were 17 & 18. We moved out in 2008, had our children in 2009 and 2010 and finally married, after an almost 6 year engagement, in 2013! He is my rock, our rock. Always there for our family providing the best he can and giving us all he has.

I do miss him since we've had children. I think we both underestimated just how little time would be left for us after we became a family but we try to make time for each other in the evenings with movie nights in and the occasional night out. Every now and then he takes a day off work while the children are at Pre-School and we get the most part of a day together to fill however we want, which is fantastic.

I still miss him though. It's very easy to fall into a routine of work, children and home when you have a family and I think we've fallen into that trap a little. The guilt I experience of leaving my children with other people doesn't help and I know I need to start creating some more time for us to be a couple. My Husband surprised me with the prospect of a day and a night away next month for the two of us and I'm planning a trip to the cinema sometime soon too. I can't wait!

  1. Busy schedules do make dates difficult, it's great that you're setting aside time for the two of you. Great photo :)

  3. Just tonight I had a conversation with someone who I really respect, whose advice I listen to. As you know I am struggling, so is my husband but after speaking to her, I realised that I am taking on too many commitments and something has to give in order to make more time for my husband and I have vowed to make more time for him, for us even if we don't go out, just switching off the technology for an evening and having a nice meal together.

  5. What a beautiful photo of you two and a thought-provoking post. I know what you mean about there not being any time. My husband and I spend very little quality time together. With no babysitters available it means that we can't get out and do things with just the two of us, and with such a varying age between the children (5-14) it means even day trips can be difficult to please everyone.

Sorry to hear you're finding the same thing. We rarely have babysitters available too and the guilt that comes with leaving my children with someone else often puts me off. Fingers crossed we all managed to find a bit more time for us :) x
