D is for...

Our house, like most private rentals, is a feast of rather bland magnolia. Or maybe I should say, it was... We've started to redecorate, with our Landlord's permission of course, and after brightening our youngest's room up with a couple of coats of fresh 'apple white' paint the half-term has seen me whipping out the brushes and rollers again! This time it was the turn of our eldest's room.

After looking at the different paints and creating a few swatches with tester pots, Terror 1 settled on a beautiful pastel purple known as 'violet white.' My two gave me a hand in cleaning the walls ready for painting and then I began to turn the boring and grubby magnolia into a little purple haven. It looks lovely, both of their rooms do. They are such pretty colours that fill the room with green and purple whilst avoiding becoming too overbearing.

I have some rather ambitious plans for decorating our home but nobody got anything done without some absurd goals right? I'm hoping to have the entire house repainted by the Summer (that's the walls in all the rooms except my children's and the skirting boards, doors and kitchen ceiling if I can) and revamped with new furniture and accessories by the end of the year! It's quite a big goal and I'm not certain that we'll get it all crammed into this year alone...but we're going to give it our best shot! :)

    1. It's gorgeous, a pale pastel lilac kind of a colour. Our eldest is very happy with it :D x

  2. I decorated our house all kinds of colours when we moved in. Now I'm back to white. With little windows and low ceilings, the light needs all the help it can get. Part of me is slightly envious of your colour choice. #AlphabetPhoto

    1. We've gone with very light colours for similar reasons, especially as our youngest's room is a little box. The Dulux Natural Hints range is really good :) x

  3. Good luck! We live in a magnolia zone - OH's choice (his house!) but I'm hoping to do some paint before the summer holidays start #alphabetphoto

    1. Fingers crossed for you! Magnolia can be lovely, ours is just a bit grubby and tired after years of renting. A few of the rooms will stay the same and are just having a bit of a freshen up :)

  4. I went for shades of grey throughout mine... We're about to move house, and I think I'll stick with the palette of greys, but I like the look of that violet white, which would work with the greys :) It's making what a difference a fresh coat of paint can make x #alphabetphoto

    1. Thank you. I do like the magnolia (we're keeping most rooms this colour) but it needs quite a bit of freshening up I think. At the moment it looks rather bland and mucky. Can't wait until it's finished! :)

  8. Oh how pretty, I love all those shades of white paints that give a hint of colour without being overbearing. Great choice! :-)
