Word of the Week - 02
Having our two terrors close together has had its advantages; they can share toys and enjoy the same games, clothes and shoes can be passed straight down, they go through phases at roughly the same time and they are better friends than either of us could have wished for. But it does mean we miss out on one thing...time. Or rather 1-2-1 time.
With just 14 months and 2 days between them it means that any 1-2-1 time is a rather rare occurrence. Seeing the both of them together and the bond they have is magical but I would love devote an entire morning to each of them separately. I think all of us gain a lot from it and it gives my littles the chance to be 'just them'.
My youngest was off Pre-School at the beginning of the week so we didn't infect any other children with Chicken Pox (see my last 'Word of the Week - Sickness') which gave me the opportunity to enjoy some much wanted Mummy-Daughter and Mummy-Son time that I've been trying to create.
My Mum kindly watched my youngest terror while I walked my eldest to and from their Pre-School and my little Miss and I took the opportunity to have a mini Mummy-Daughter adventure on our walk. We took the scenic route, exploring the lesser walked tracks, stopping to look at the flowers and doing a spot of tree climbing.
Whilst my eldest was having fun with her friends at Pre-School, my little man, who was totally fine in himself and just a little spotty, and I enjoyed some 1-2-1 time too. We did some fun craft activities together, had a big cuddle on the sofa with a film and went on a fun walk where we explored all that we passed.
It has been lovely. We've all had a bit more time and my two seem to have enjoyed spending a few hours on their own with me and getting up to lots of fun. I hope I can create some more time for them individually in the near future.

I completely relate to this, due to twins the second time, there is 22months between my daughter and her brothers, so so difficult- as you say, so many positives, but it is always wonderful to be able to grab a hold of some 1-to-1 time, glad (in spite of the circumstances) that you managed to find your time.
ReplyDeleteI'm nice to get some one-on-one time with your children, I need to do this more
ReplyDeleteThank you :) Me too; it can be so tricky to fit it in can't it, especially when you have more than 1 x
